Harvey Elliott admits frustration at limited minutes but remains determined to fight for his place in Liverpool’s squad.
The 21-year-old scored the winning goal against Paris Saint-Germain just seconds after coming off the bench. Despite his versatility in midfield and attack, Elliott struggles to secure a regular starting spot.
Mohamed Salah’s guaranteed role and fierce midfield competition make his chances rare. Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister, and Dominik Szoboszlai remain first-choice midfielders under Arne Slot.

Harvey Elliott honor’s Slot and his management
According to Carl Markham ( via This is Anfield ), Elliott acknowledges his youth but feels experienced after nearly 150 appearances since joining Liverpool in 2019. “I’m still young, but I feel experienced,” he said.
The England international’s frustration grows when he doesn’t play, yet he understands Slot’s decisions. “I need to respect the situation,” he admitted.
“Some games I’m needed, some games I’m not. That’s football.” Liverpool’s dominance in the Premier League and Champions League proves Slot’s choices work.
“That’s why we are in this position,” Elliott said. He stays focused despite setbacks, knowing football involves ups and downs. “You can go without playing, but staying motivated is key,” he said. “Moments like my goal keep me hungry.”
The young midfielder has spoken with Slot about his role and values their honest discussions. “It’s down to me to show my progress,” he admitted.
He works hard to improve but respects Liverpool’s success. **“I can’t get too frustrated because the team is doing amazing,**” he said.
Elliott believes in patience and team spirit. “It’s a team game, not just about me,” he concluded.
His hunger remains strong, and he aims to prove himself whenever given the chance.
