Liverpool manager Arne Slot has explained that Reds’ No. 1 Alisson faces strong competition from one more goalkeeper in the Liverpool squad.
Alisson Becker is getting loads of attention for his outstanding performance against Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg in Paris. The Brazilian goalkeeper picked up the man of the match award for his brilliant saves that kept Liverpool in the game.

Although, Slot admitted his side were lucky to come away with the victory from the Parc des Princes. The Reds’ manager lauded Alisson, saying, that he is the best in the world at the moment.

Arne Slot explains Alisson has competition for the goalie spot
AnythingLFC reports that Arne Slot, while in his pre-match press conference on Friday, spoke on the current goalkeeper situation at the club.
“He has great competition with Kelleher, so if this is what drives him then it helps for a No. 2 to have, but Ali is just a top professional and they know what it means to wear this shirt.
You always know if you are a player here; if you don’t do well, someone else will do the job. Jaros is talented as well, so goalkeeper-wise we are in a good place.”
Caoimhin Kelleher has been a worthy competitor for Alisson over the years, putting out high quality and top notch performances when needed to deputise and fill in for the Reds’ first-choice shot stopper.
Slot also heaped praises on Alisson, explaining that making saves is very vital to the team, but being able to pull off saves that others do not is what makes the Selecao international player one of the best in the world.
The goalie made 9 saves from 27 PSG shots on Wednesday in the UCL, and told TNT Sports that “it was probably the greatest performance of my life” as he picked up his 22nd clean sheet in the Champions League.
