Ruben Amorim is hoping to have Amad Diallo back sooner than initially feared.
Manchester United have struggled to score goals this season, but that task was made more difficult when Amad Diallo suffered an ankle ligament injury in training last month.
Amad had scored six goals under Ruben Amorim following his appointment as United head coach in November. The Ivory Coast international became the star of United’s first-team before his devastating set-back.
That set-back added to Amorim’s problems up front because Rasmus Hojlund has not scored in 19 matches and Joshua Zirkzee has only been able to score six goals across all competitions.
As a result, United are being linked with several strikers ahead of the summer transfer window. From Victor Osimhen to Viktor Gyokeres, there is no shortage of striker targets for the media to speculate over.

Ruben Amorim hopes to have Amad back this season
Although Amad was not expected to return to full fitness until next season, the Ivory Coast international could make his comeback from injury before the end of the current campaign.
The 23-year-old had to undergo surergy on his ankle ligament injury but it sounds like it was a success, with Amorim hinting that Amad could return to the team earlier than initially expected.
Amorim told reporters at his press conference that he is hopeful the winger will return ahead of United’s final matches of the season.

“No, no, I think it’s just Amad,” Amorim said when asked about players who have been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
“Even Amad, we’ll see in the end of the last month. I don’t want to say anything to you but I have the hope to have Amad before, we’ll see.”
Manchester United miss Amad’s goal contributions
It had been an incredible season for Amad – on an individual note – right up until his injury.

Erik ten Hag finally gave Amad a run in the team at the start of the season, but his role gained significance under Amorim.
Amorim will be keen to get Amad back because United have worsened in front of goal since his absence, with Hojlund still struggling in front of goal.
It would be a blessing for United if they were to reach the Europa League final, only for Amad to return in time for the trip to Bilbao.
