Ruben Amorim welcomes fan protest ahead of Arsenal clash

Manchester United fans will stage a protest against the Glazer family’s ownership ahead of Sunday’s match against Arsenal at Old Trafford, with Ruben Amorim acknowledging their frustrations and supporting their right to demonstrate.

Supporters plan to march from the Tollgate pub to the stadium, calling for change at the club and urging fellow fans to wear black to symbolize that United is “slowly dying.”

Amorim, addressing the protest, said: “People have the right to protest. I think it’s a good thing to do that. It’s part of our club. Everybody has a voice.”

With United struggling in 14th place and having won just one of their last four Premier League games, pressure continues to mount on Amorim.

He admitted the club is going through a turbulent period, stating, “For everybody in our club, it’s a really tough moment.

“It’s everything at the same time. The only thing I can do, and our players can do, is perform well and win.”

United face a formidable Arsenal side that sits second in the league on 54 points and has virtually secured a Champions League quarter-final spot after their 7-1 first-leg win at PSV Eindhoven.

Arsenal’s transformation under Mikel Arteta serves as a reminder of what patience and long-term planning can achieve, but Amorim does not believe he will be given the same time to rebuild United.

“I don’t feel that,” he said when asked if his situation mirrors Arteta’s early struggles at Arsenal.

“I will not have the time Arteta had – I feel that. It’s a different club. So we just need to survive with the players [available] on Sunday. I think it’s a different club – in that aspect, the way Arteta dealt with that is an inspiration for everybody, but I will not have the time like Arteta had.”

Amorim has already started reshaping the squad, with Marcus Rashford sent on loan to Aston Villa for what the coach described as “training reasons.”

The forward’s future remains uncertain, with Amorim suggesting he could be one of several players leaving permanently in the summer.

United’s injury crisis adds to their struggles, with Harry Maguire and Manuel Ugarte missing Thursday’s 1-1 draw against Real Sociedad in Spain.

Asked about their availability for Arsenal, Amorim said, “I don’t know – Maguire we have to be careful.

“We need to survive Sunday – the team was so tired in the last 20 minutes.

” We have to prepare for Sunday and think about this important game for our season on Thursday.”

With the return leg against Real Sociedad looming, Amorim confirmed that Lisandro Martínez is the only player certain to miss the rest of the season, while Amad Diallo could return in the final month of the campaign.
