One UI 7 brings a new App Continuity feature for Galaxy Z Fold 6

The One UI 7 update for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 brings one unexpected feature/improvement. One UI 7 beta users can select a new App Continuity behavior for the Galaxy Z Fold 6, called “Swipe to continue.”

As many Fold users know, App Continuity allows users to keep using an app when they fold their phones and switch from the foldable display to the cover screen.

In One UI 7 beta, Samsung added new options for App Continuity, one of which allows users to swipe on the cover screen to continue using an app after they fold the phone (via Reddit).

Now, the App Continuity settings screen contains three options: “Always,” “Swipe to continue,” and “Never.”

When “Swipe to continue” is enabled, users will see a new swipe option on the lock screen whenever they fold their phones shut. If they don't swipe on the lock screen, the phone locks. If they do, they can continue using the app on the cover screen.

In One UI 6.1.1, users had an “All apps” toggle through which they could switch App Continuity on or off.

Interestingly, the option to toggle App Continuity on or off for each app individually appears to have been removed in One UI 7 beta for the Galaxy Z Fold 6.

This new “Swipe to continue” option replaces it and serves a similar function. It achieves the same thing, more or less, in that users can choose whether or not they want to continue using an app when they switch from one display to the other. Nonetheless, it works very differently than the old toggles.

One UI 7 beta is now available for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in the USA and India. The UK and Korea will also join the beta testing phase.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 users in these regions can apply for the One UI 7 beta program through the Samsung Members app. Read more here.
