Everton have created extraordinary domino effect as the FA make announcement - opinion

Everton have made the headlines since David Moyes’ return, but something has eclipsed the Scotsman’s arrival.

It’s been almost a month since the aftermath of a chaotic Merseyside Derby between Everton and Liverpool.

Plenty unfolded as James Tarkowski’s goal sent Goodison Park into bedlam, and the goal will be talked about for years to come.

Abdoulaye Doucoure was at the centre of what happened as the midfielder mocked the Liverpool fans with Steve McManaman branding Doucoure silly.

But it seemed there was a more important matter concerning Arne Slot, which has since taken the spotlight, leading to an announcement.

FA announce change that link Arne Slot’s antics vs Everton

It’s safe to say that Slot had a case of head loss vs Everton.

His actions after the game lead to serious repercussions as Slot got a red card for confronting Michael Oliver and the linesman in the aftermath of last month’s 2-2 draw.

The punishment has only heightened after Slot was given a two-game touchline ban following his furocity.

With the actions of the Liverpool boss considered, FA chief Mark Bullingham is asking for a change.

The FA chief executive said during the launch of the FA Strategy 2024-2028: “We have seen a huge decrease in the number of issues in the leagues where there’s bodycams.”

Bullingham feels pro officials wearing cameras could be hugely popular with fans, which will help cut out managers and players’ bad behaviour, with Slot’s rage playing a part.

But to think, this all started from a late Tarkowski strike.

Everton have created a domino effect after FA announcement

This was obviously a situation being considered, but it seems as though what Slot did in the Merseyside Derby has tipped it over the edge.

Virgil van Dijk blamed Oliver vs Everton as Slot wasn’t the only one up to these tricks, and it’s clearly an issue that needs to be resolved in the game.

But the extraordinary thing is, if Tarkowski didn’t send the Gwladys Street into ruptures, this could certainly be an issue still.

Slot would’ve never commented to the referee after the game if Liverpool won, with it being safe to say Everton and Tarkowski have contributed to a major change from the FA.

It seems like a brilliant incentive from the Football Association to put a stop to manager, players and fans abusing referees, and they can thank Everton’s number six for that.
