**Ruben Amorim claimed he will not be given the same time to turn things around at Manchester United as Mikel Arteta got at Arsenal in the early stages of his tenure.**
The two coaches go head-to-head this Sunday as [United](https://hayters.com/holders-united-knocked-out-of-fa-cup-five-things-we-learned-from-man-united-1-1-pen-3-4-fulham/) host Arsenal at Old Trafford. In years gone by this used to be a battle for the title, and whilst the Gunners are second, for United it is more a battle for a top-half finish.
[Amorim](https://hayters.com/blow-for-amorim-man-united-player-out-for-season/) was asked if he saw similarities between his situation and Arteta’s at the start of his time at Arsenal: “I don’t feel that. I will not have the time that Arteta had. It’s a different club.
“We just need to survive, both the players on Sunday and me. The way Arteta dealt with that is an inspiration for everybody. I will not have the time like Arteta had.”
The Portuguese is acutely aware of the pressure that comes with managing a club the size of United and as such knows he will likely not be given several years to turn things around.
The points gap between the clubs is currently 21, a number that seems almost unfathomable given how close title races between these two sides were.
Such is the situation at United, that fans are due to protest on Sunday, to which Amorim said: “I think for everybody at our club it’s a really tough moment. It’s everything at the same time.
“The only thing I can do and the players can do is perform well and win. People have the right to protest. I think it is a good thing to do that. It’s part of our club. Everybody has a voice.”
A win against Arsenal would certainly quell some of the noise, even if just for a few weeks. And Amorim has proven he can get results against big teams, with previous wins over Manchester City in the league and the Gunners in the FA Cup.
