City were unlucky not to make it to the F.A.Cup semi-finals this season when the thrilling replay at Bramall Lane saw the Sky Blues take a tenth minute lead from Paul Telfer, only for the home side to find an equaliser again from David Holdsworth with only a minute left on the clock. Extra time saw no more goals so it went to penalties which the Sky Blues sadly lost!

In the Premier League the Sky Blues eventually finished in a comfortable eleventh position in the top division with Arsenal pipping Manchester United for the Premiership title in the 1997-98 season and Bolton Wanderers, Barnsley and bottom club Crystal Palace suffered the drop!
