Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo has reportedly made a decision on his future amid developing interest from Chelsea. The 19-year-old's future at the club remains unclear with the financial struggles at Old Trafford.

In January, it was reported that Premier League rivals Chelsea were the frontrunners to sign the England international if he was to leave United. Mainoo's exit would represent pure profit due to his homegrown status, something that would help Ineos' hopes of avoiding any breaches of the financial regulations.

Last summer, Mainoo was one of the three players deemed untouchable by the club but that status has now gone with his value now in the region of around £70million. His contract is due to expire in 2027, with United having the option to extend it by a further year, but there has been talks over a new deal.

Now, it appears the midfielder has come to a decision over his future with GIVEMESPORT suggesting there is increasing confidence that a new deal will be struck. The report claims that Mainoo's priority is to commit his long-term future to United to vend off any interest elsewhere.

Despite his emergence for club and country in the past 18 months, Mainoo is understood to be one of United's lowest-earners. After signing a new deal in February 2023, it is understood that the academy graduate is seeking around £150,000-per-week with a possible increase of £30,000-per-week if United qualify for the Champions League.

Mainoo's absence in recent weeks has left Ruben Amorim short in midfield. However, his calf injury should see him return to action before the end of the season.

At just 19, Mainoo is one player United have more than enough reason to rely on for years to come. Yet with Ineos struggling to comply with PSR, the sale of an academy graduate is an option that could help raise funds for the transfer market.
