It was announced on Tuesday that the Green Bay Packers reached a multi-year extension with kicker Brandon McManus, who was expected to be one of the top two players at the position in the 2025 free-agency market. At the time, the deal was reported as a three-year, $15.3 million contract, though, no other details were disclosed at the time.
Over the Cap has since received a full outline of the deal, which shows the true structure of the contract.
McManus received a $5 million signing bonus and carries a $1.4 million salary in 2025. His cap hit for the upcoming season is $3.5 million. Throughout his contract, he also will receive $500,000 in per-game roster bonuses that will pay out weekly.
Beyond his signing bonus, McManus did not receive any guaranteed money. In 2026, McManus will make $2.1 million in base salary and will have a cap number of $5.4 million to just a dead cap of $3.3 million, meaning that the Packers can save $2.1 million in cap space with his release. If Green Bay wants to move on from the 34-year-old after just a season, they won’t have a problem doing so.
They will need to make that decision before the third day of the new league year in 2026, though, as McManus has a $1 million roster bonus that will pay out on that day.
In 2027, McManus’ salary will jump to $4 million, bringing his cap number up to $6.3 million with a dead cap of $1.7 million. At that point, he will be paid like a top-end kicker — which at minimum should lead to a renegotiation of the contract for the would-be-36-year-old.
