Terrible news for Man City as Liverpool reportedly plan official move to sign 'world-class'…

Liverpool could be set to hit Manchester City where it hurts in the summer transfer window.

The Premier League landscape has completely changed this season, with a power-shift seeing Liverpool leap-frog Manchester City as England’s best team.

Pep Guardiola is said to be planning a big summer rebuild at The Etihad this summer, with as many as eight players thought to be up for sale.

Liverpool could be in the same boat in all fairness, with their best three players still to commit their futures to Anfield.

City are said to be plotting some big statement signings this summer, including a move for Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz.

However, Liverpool could be set to beat Pep Guardiola to another of his key transfer targets.

Liverpool plan move to Manchester City target sign Rafael Leao

Last year, Manchester City were named as the front-runners in the race to sign the €150 million (£126 million) rated Rafael Leao, according to Caught Offside.

It has even been claimed that Leao is one of Manchester City’s top three transfer targets.

However, Sportmediaset are claiming that Liverpool are ready to swoop in for the 25-year-old forward, with Milan now willing to accept a fee closer to £84 million for his services.

He has been described as ‘world-class’ by Milan Reports, and on his day that’s certainly the case.

Leao is exactly the type of player Pep Guardiola needs to fire his side back to the very top of the game, so Liverpool making a move to sign the Portugal international is certainly not ideal for the Man City manager.

Manchester City desperately need more pace and power in the wide attacking positions, and a big upgrade is required on Jeremy Doku and Jack Grealish.

Jack Grealish out but who will Pep replace him with?

Pep Guardiola is playing a really dangerous game with Grealish.

He’s hardly playing the 29-year-old and is criticising him in public.

The Man City boss is tanking Grealish’s value with his actions, but regardless of that, he definitely needs to bring in an upgrade on the former Aston Villa winger.

Rafael Leao would be perfect for Manchester City, but with Liverpool now moving in to sign him, Pep may have to look elsewhere.

Nico Williams is an option for Man City, as is Jamie Gittens.

The most important thing for Pep will be to bring in a player who takes Manchester City to another level.

It’s just a shame that Leao looks more likely to move to Anfield than the Etihad now.
