Chelsea's Tyrique George is second across all PL players in one statistic, only Bukayo Saka is above him

Tyrique George is slowly beginning to make a real impression in Chelsea’s first-team squad, and one eye-catching statistic perfectly highlights the kind of positive impact he’s making.

It’s been a great season so far for Tyrique George, who’s a product of the Chelsea academy. The young winger has gone from the Under-21s team to a fully integrated member of the senior dressing room at Stamford Bridge.

George, 19, started and played the full 90 minutes as Chelsea won 2-1 away at Copenhagen on Thursday evening in the Conference League. In fact, he registered his fourth assist of the season with a pass for Enzo Fernandez’s goal in the first-leg victory.

Back in December, George joined Chelsea’s senior group permanently, along with fellow academy graduate Josh Acheampong.

It should be a significant boost to other rising stars at the club that the pathway into the first team is still very much open.

Only Bukayo Saka averages more assists than Chelsea youngster Tyrique George amongst Premier League payers

OptaPlay has uploaded via X one eye-catching statistic about Chelsea’s academy graduate George.

Amongst Premier League players to make 10+ appearances across all competitions this season, Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is the only individual with a higher average (0.64) of assists per 90 than George (0.61).

England winger Saka has 13 assists in 24 Arsenal appearances this season, although he’s been sidelined with a hamstring injury since December.

In contrast, George is still a young attacker at the infancy of his senior career. He’s quite clearly making the most of his impact whenever he gets on the pitch, though.

George has been holding his own in Chelsea’s training as he adjusts to working with the main group on a daily basis, and everything should point towards him getting more opportunities to impress.

How Tyrique George compares to other Chelsea wingers

Unlike some of the other wide men in the Chelsea squad, George is super direct when he’s got the ball at his feet and dribbles with intent. Of course, there’s still a rawness about the 19-year-old as he develops and matures, but there’s clearly a spark in his game.

While there are plenty of talented wingers in the Blues ranks, we’re still waiting for one to really explode into elite form.

Sancho praised George earlier in the season by claiming he’s “got the world at his feet” and a big future ahead of him. If Sancho isn’t careful, the Chelsea youngster could soon leapfrog him in the pecking order for the wide positions.
