Manchester United icon Gary Neville believes their clash against Arsenal could be decisive to the Gunners' title hopes.

Mikel Arteta's side travel to Old Trafford knowing that they could slip further behind pace-setters Liverpool, should they fail to win. With no wins in their last two, Arne Slot's side have wrestled their way to a 13-point lead - which could extend to 16 prior to kick-off on Sunday, should they beat Southampton.

United host the North London club looking to spark a positive run until the end of the season. Ruben Amorim's men will be looking to finish strongly with 11 games remaining as they sit sit 14th in the table, 16 points clear of safety and 14 off the Champions League places.

During their Super6 predictions for The Overlap, both Neville and Jamie Carragher predicted that the clash on Sunday will finish level. But the former United defender has claimed that any negative result for Arsenal could end their faint title aspirations.

He said: "This could finish Arsenal off this one. This is the type of game United win. It's the type of game United turn up in. 4:30pm [kick-off], Sunday, fans get up...

"How do Arsenal get a goal? Roy, I'm telling you, you know what it's like at Old Trafford sometimes."

United go into the showdown on the back of a frustrating 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad during their Europa League Round of 16 first-leg. Despite looking comfortable in the encounter, taking the lead through Joshua Zirkzee, they were left disappointed after Mikel Oyarzabal's equaliser from the spot 20 minutes from time.

"We're creating chances, but sometimes you don’t see it in the expected goals, because we manage not to shoot. But the great opportunities are there and you can see it," Amorim said on Thursday. "We have transitions, we have situations and sometimes we're missing something.

“That can change something, especially in these kinds of games, when we need goals that can make a difference. I’m just imagining Diogo didn’t know for sure that Rasmus had the advantage and he felt that he had a lot of time to think of the play.

“It was a clear position, Rasmus did really well, Dalot did really well, but the decision was not the best. The important thing is to move on and not be fighting.”
