Rangers fans need not worry about Paraag Marathe as a source close to the 49ers Enterprises has shared an update.

The Leeds United chairman and Andrew Cavenagh are in talks to take control of the Gers soon.

Ibrox recently witnessed uncertainty after John Bennette and James Bisgrove departed, but Fraser Thornton and Patrick Stewart have replaced them.

Issues still mar the Light Blues off the pitch, and fans are understandably excited about the prospect of a takeover at the Glaswegian outfit.

Leeds are prospering under the 49ers this season, sitting at the top of the Championship table.

Marathe is someone who understands the fans, according to the source, and recognises what the supporters are looking for.

Speaking to Sporting Intelligence (5 March), the source said: “[Marathe] is a great guy. He gets the sport business. He gets football. He understands fans and what they want. If I were a Rangers supporter, I would have no worries around him.”

Ibrox revolution on cards after 49ers takeover

Marathe and Cavenagh’s potential arrival at Ibrox has rejuvenated the fanbase and renewed hopes among them.

The Light Blues have declined since winning the league title under Steven Gerrard and have been unable to build on that success.

While the managerial appointments have been questionable at the Gers, the boardroom’s decision-making has left a lot to be desired in most departments.

Philippe Clement arguably overstayed his welcome at Ibrox, and Stewart took his time pulling the plug on the Belgian manager’s tenure.

With Barry Ferguson now in charge on an interim basis, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the Bears when the American consortium eventually arrives.

While it would be surprising to see the Gers icon get the job permanently, beating Fenerbahce 3-1 in the Europa League away from home on Thursday (6 March) didn’t hurt his cause.

Marathe has already overseen a relatively successful period at Leeds, who are top of the Championship right now and are favourites to win Premier League promotion.

Fans will hope prosperity returns to Ibrox if and when the takeover is completed.
