Manchester United’s squad depth has been tested in recent weeks, forcing experienced players to take on bigger roles despite earlier struggles for game time.
United’s injury crisis has led to an increased workload for Casemiro, who had been left on the bench more often than not under Ruben Amorim.
Casemiro, who once dominated the European stage has found himself in a reduced role this season, adjusting to a different status under new management.
The 33-year-old, once a key figure following his move from Real Madrid in 2022, has seen his influence wane but delivered a strong performance in Thursday’s 1-1 draw at Real Sociedad in the Europa League.
“I’m happy with my game in particular, but the result could have been a little better,” Casemiro said.

“We controlled the game well, we had chances to score.”
The Brazilian acknowledged the difficulty of the fixture but remained optimistic about United’s chances in the second leg.
“The whole team suffered a lot. We controlled the game well, now it’s time to play at home with our fans,” he added.
Despite his limited minutes this season, Casemiro remains determined to contribute whenever called upon.
“Of course I want to play,” he said. “But I always say, and these are my values, I respect the coach a lot, I respect the club.
“Every day I go to Carrington or Old Trafford I try to do my best.”
United’s highest-paid player has frequently been linked with a move away, with speculation expected to intensify in the summer.
His contract runs until next year with an option for an extension, but his immediate focus is on Sunday’s crucial clash against Arsenal.
“It’s too soon to talk about next season,” Casemiro said.
“I’m here, I’m available, with total happiness, and I’m ready for the coach and the club.”
