Arsenal are reportedly preparing to activate the €58m release clause of Nico Williams.
Arsenal eyeing Nico Williams move
The north London side are expected to be heavily busy in the summer transfer window. They are looking to target the La Liga market during the summer. They’re eyeing potential moves for several top players. Particularly, they are tracking Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams and **Real Sociedad**‘s Martin Zubimendi.
As per multiple reports, the Gunners are the favorites to land the Sociedad’s midfielder. While in case of the Athletic Club winger, there’s no confirmed news update yet.
It is expected that Barcelona will not be looking to sign the Spanish striker in the summer transfer window. This gives the north London team a clear advantage in landing the player. The Catalans were seen very keen to sign Williams last year. Although, the move didn’t take place after the player decided to stay with his club in Bilbao.
Mikel Arteta will be very happy to see the 22-year-old attacker deciding to look for away moves in the summer. However, Athletic are confident on holding on to the player. The La Liga side are also not listening to any offers from any teams. But that does not change anything for the Premier League side. As reports by Football Transfers suggest that the Gunners are ready to activate his release clause. The clause is said to worth around €58 million.

Arteta to finally sign striker
The Football Transfers report suggests that Nico’s move to Emirates Stadium does not depend on any other factor. The English club won’t have to be reliable on any sales or anything to land the forward. At least from the Arsenal’s end there are no issues.
However, it remains to be seen whether they will be able to get there man. As of now, the winger is happy at Athletic. He hasn’t shown any signs to leave the side so far. In spite of a heavy interest from Barcelona last year, he still decided to stay at his boyhood club.
It remains uncertain on whether Nico thinks about a move away from Bilbao. It will be interesting to see if he is available in the market during the summer transfer window. But as of now, he is fully focused on helping Los Leones to end this campaign on a high.
