Former Manchester United and Tottenham striker Teddy Sheringham has named the current Premier League number nine that he believes Arsenal should sign to solve their current woes up top. Mikel Arteta's side have been on a remarkable rise towards the top of the table in recent years, but have consistently been a proven goalscorer away from claiming the crown.
The inconsistency and injuries of the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz have led to Arteta deploying the likes of defender Riccardo Calafiori up top, with Arsenal fans desperate for the Gunners to make a big move in the market. However, despite being linked with the likes of Benjamin Sesko and Alexander Isak, Sheringham believes that there could be a cost-effective option that may be able to produce the goods for the North London giants.

Sheringham Urges Arsenal to Sign Chris Wood
The New Zealander has had the best season of his career with Nottingham Forest
In a recent interview, as per the Metro, Sheringham has called for Arsenal to acquire the services of Nottingham Forest goal machine Chris Wood in the summer. The 33-year-old has been one of the surprise packages of the 2024/25 season, having become one of the most potent finishers in the entire Premier League.
Despite being in what many would consider to be the more advanced stages of his career, Sheringham believes that the New Zealander has plenty more left in the tank and thinks he would be the ideal man for Arteta to bring to the club next season.
"He’s a young man at 33. I played till I was 41 in the Premier League. He’s still a young man. For the way he plays the game, he can keep going until he’s 36, 37, no shadow of a doubt. If I was Arteta, I could quite easily break the bank for him to play as a goalscorer for Arsenal.
"Someone that scores goals at the top level is hard to come by and he can do it. Yes, he’s had a phenomenal season, but he’s a natural goalscorer that is capable of leading the line and creating danger in the boxes, occupying defenders."
