Liverpool are one of several top clubs to have been linked with a move for Alexander Isak following his outstanding performances for Newcastle United.
The Sweden international has scored 22 goals in 31 appearances during this campaign, having registered 25 strikes in 40 outings last season.
The 25-year-old’s form has helped the Tyneside club challenge for a Champions League spot again this season, with his side currently sitting sixth in the Premier League table.
Football Insider revealed on 16 February that Isak is seen as “perfect” and is the “number one centre-forward target” for Arne Slot and Liverpool’s recruitment team.
The forward made the move to St James’ Park for a club-record £63million fee from Real Sociedad in 2022.
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Liverpool and Arsenal could afford to sign Isak from a profit and sustainability (PSR) perspective despite the north-east giants valuing him at around £150million.

Borson previously told Football Insider Newcastle will offer Isak a record-breaking contract as they look to tie down his long-term future.
The forward is under contract until 2028 at St James’ Park.

Liverpool told Alexander Isak price after stunning Newcastle form
Borson insisted the chances of Isak leaving Newcastle will fall considerably if they qualify for the Champions League this season.
He told Football Insider: “Liverpool and Arsenal could afford it from a PSR perspective.
“Neither of them will necessarily have the cash available, but that can be put in by the ownership groups. I think both deals are unlikely, to be honest.
“It would be a very major signing for it to happen. I would think it’d be more than £120million as well. Newcastle are unlikely to want to sell, even if the player would want to go.
“I think that the price that was paid would have to be such that it really accelerated Newcastle’s development elsewhere with the profit that they made from that transaction.
“He’s probably going to have a book value of about £30million by the end of the season, something like that given what he was bought for. The profit would be significant, but would it be significant enough for them to really be keen to do it?
“I suspect that, if they get the Champions League qualification, then the chances of that happening fall considerably because they just don’t think anybody’s going to pay £140-150million.”

Robinson is on the list at Anfield, but the Fulham defender will be 28 by the time next season gets underway in August.
It is believed Bournemouth star Kerkez, who is just 21, is a more concrete target for Liverpool as they plan their summer transfer business.
