Fabrizio Romano has shared an update as Everton search for a new head of recruitment with Kevin Thelwell set to depart.
Thewell’s contract at Goodison Park expires at the end of the season, and the hierarchy have decided to part ways with the Welshman in the coming months.
Leeds United’s Angues Kinnear is being linked with the Toffees, but it remains to be seen what direction The Friedkin Group (TFG) take.
After years of relegation scraps under Farhad Moshiri, a change in the structure seems necessary at the Merseyside outfit.

The Italian journalist revealed on GiveMeSport (7 March) that the Friedkins are looking to bring in new people to take care of the strategy at the Blues.
Team Position Years
Everton Director of football 2022–2025
New York Red Bulls Director of football 2020–2022
Wolves Sporting director 2016–2020
Some of the roles Thelwell has held over the years.
Thelwell has looked after recruitment at the Merseyside outfit since 2022, signing the likes of Jake O’Brien, Iliman Ndiaye and Orel Mangala last summer.
There have also been some questionable deals for Armado Broja and Neal Maupay recently, but the Welsman has done a decent job overall at Everton.

TFG to usher new era under Moyes
TFG could potentially hand Moyes the reins when it comes to recruiting players for the first team after Thelwell’s departure.
The Scottish manager was influential during his first stint at Goodison Park and may have a role to play in signing new players next summer.
Moyes has done an exceptional job so far at the Blues, dragging them 15 points clear of the relegation zone after going six games unbeaten in the English top flight.
It wouldn’t be surprising to see the Friedkins hand the former West Ham United manager more control over various aspects behind the scenes.
In an era where a head coach is more focused on what happens on the field, the Scotsman is someone who has experience in having a hands-on approach in other departments.
Moyes has all but sealed Premier League survival for the Merseyside outfit, and it would take a calamitous collapse to get relegated from this stage.
With the move to Bramley Moore Dock from the start of next season, fans hope for better things to come, and the initial signs look promising.
