Saturday, March 8 marks International Women’s Day and here at Forest we are proud to celebrate all the fantastic female supporters, staff, and players we have that make Nottingham Forest such a diverse and special club.
To celebrate the club’s official women’s supporter group and our continued commitment to work with them, Nottingham Forest spoke with Garibaldi Girls Chair, Ellie Molloson:
“Here at Garibaldi Girls, we are very fortunate that we can say that we are directly supported by the club. Nottingham Forest have gone to great lengths to showcase their commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans with the Forest For Everyone campaign.
“The club has offered numerous resources and contacts to help get the group off the ground as well as regularly valuing our opinions on how to improve the matchday experience. In many cases, we have not even had to ask, such as having "Garibaldi Girls" displayed on the screens at every home match and even inviting us to global conferences suggested by Evangelos Marinakis himself to help amplify women's voices in the men's game.
“Both the club and the owner's continued commitment to maintaining Forest’s identity as the progressive and trailblazing club in 'Rebel City' makes me proud to be a female 'Tricky'. If you too are a proud female 'Tricky', we would love for you to become a member at Garibaldi Girls this International Women's Day.
“Membership is completely free and provides benefits such as access to exclusive events, invites onto national and international media to share your football opinions, a network of female football fans, chances to give feedback to the club, and opportunities to win prizes.”
Marking a year since Garibaldi Girls were officially founded, Nottingham Forest have recently worked alongside Ellie to create Garibaldi Girls’ own official launch video to further promote the group and the safe space that has been created for all female Forest fans to come together and discuss everything from their love for our club to day-today life.
Nottingham Forest said: “It’s a pleasure to work closely with Ellie and Garibaldi Girls as a group since their foundation and outlines the commitment of our club to build relations with all supporter groups. The club strives for diversity and inclusion and look forward to further building on the relationship we have established with Garibaldi Girls’ and all their members.
