He made his debut in March 2022 at just 16 years old, playing against FCSB in the UEFA Conference league. The nineteen year old has been in exceptional form for the Hammers, earning praise from Graham Potter and the backroom staff.
Scarles had only signed a new deal in October 2024 which ties him to the club until June 2028, with an additional one year option.
Now the news from inside West Ham is that _he is set to be awarded a new bumper contract later this year according to a senior source_ who informed Claret and Hugh that the club plans to review his contract before Christmas: The club have obviously learned from the departure of young talent like Divin Mubama and are determined to keep Scarles’ talent at West Ham.
Following West Ham’s recent 1-0 victory at the Emirates stadium, coach Graham Potter shed light on his expectations for West Hams youngster: “_Of course it’s his football quality, but I think he played the game as if he’d been there before. There’s more to come from him.”_
Scarles himself is just loving his Hammers’ rise towards success: “_I’ve loved every minute of my experience at West Ham. I know the club inside out. It’s the best thing that’s happened to me.”_
At the time of his debut, former manager, David Moyes was confident that Scarles would develop into a Premier League footballer. This belief was reinforced by Julen Lopetegui, who handed the teenager his Premier League debut away at Bournemouth as a second half substitute in a 1-1 draw in December 2024.
Having been with the club since the age of 11, Scarles has progressed through the ranks, earning England caps at Under 15, U16, U17 and U18 levels.
