Miami Dolphins impending free agent Jevon Holland is one of the biggest names set to hit the open market, and with good reason. A second-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Oregon product immediately earned a starting job and spent the past four seasons establishing himself as one of the league’s top safeties. While his 2024 season wasn’t as dominant as his 2023, he still finished the year with one sack, 62 tackles, two tackles-for-loss, and two quarterback hits.
With Tee Higgins and Trey Smith remaining with their respective teams, there is a strong case to be made that Jevon Holland is the best free agent available. While just about every team would love to have someone like him on their roster, NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe recently reported that the Carolina Panthers and Tennessee Titans are the two frontrunners for his services.
Top available safety Jevón Holland expected to have a very lucrative free agent market next week.

Report: Panthers, Titans Fighting For Free Agent Jevon Holland
Carolina Panthers guard Robert Hunt said he’d recruit former Dolphins to his team, and so far the Pro Bowler is walking the walk. While the Panthers 5-win season isn’t too impressive on paper, their arrow is pointing up. Head coach Dave Canales and General Manager Dan Morgan inherited a mess and spent the 2024 season fixing the offense. That mission was a success, as Bryce Young played his best football down the stretch surrounded by strong blocking and young weapons.
Now, it’s time for the team to focus on the defensive side of the ball. Outside of Pro Bowler Jaycee Horn and defensive tackle Derrick Brown, the Carolina Panthers do not have many proven players on the defensive side of the ball. While the front seven is probably the bigger need, the Panthers could use a free agent safety like Jevon Holland to solidify the back end. Holland is the ideal old-school safety, an elite run defender who can win as a blitzer and cover when called upon. Adding someone like this to the defense should go a long way towards fixing a unit that ranked at or near the bottom of almost every metric.
Fixing the Titans
Nobody thought the Tennessee Titans would win the Super Bowl last year, but few analysts believed they’d finish with the worst record in football. Will Levis regressed after an up-and-down rookie season, most of the offseason acquisitions disappointed, and first-year head coach Brian Callahan looked overmatched by the demands of the job. Callahan earned another year at the wheel, but the former Bengals offensive coordinator will not survive another disappointing season. With his job on the line, targeting Jevon Holland as a free agent makes all the sense in the world.
Quandre Diggs was the best safety on the team last year, but the former sixth-round pick is set to reach the open market. Now entering his age-32 season, the Titans could let him walk as a free agent and replace him with the younger and more promising Jevon Holland. This team has the talent to compete for a Wild Card spot, and signing Holland will only improve their odds of making noise in a relatively weak AFC South.
