The Chicago Bears have been very active already this offseason. So far, they have added more protection for young quarterback Caleb Williams.
First, the Bears were able to pull off a trade for offensive lineman Jonah Jackson. They quickly backed up that move with another trade, acquiring Joe Thuney from the Kansas City Chiefs.
Starting off the offseason with those two moves was a huge win for Chicago. Ryan Poles is heading in the right direction to kick things off.
Now, the Bears are expected to turn their attention to the defensive side of the football.
An intriguing name has been suggested as an NFL free agency target.
Bradley Locker of Pro Football Focus has named the "perfect" target for Chicago this offseason. That perfect target is none other than New Orleans Saints free agent pass rusher Chase Young.
He believes that Young would "inject some juice" into the Bears' defense.
"Even though Young hasn't yet met the sky-high expectations of being a No. 2 overall pick, he's rounded into a solid pass-rusher who could command more than anticipated in free agency," Locker wrote. "Pairing him with Montez Sweat on the outside could inject some juice into the Bears' defensive front."
Young, the former No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, is coming off of a strong season with the Saints in 2024.
In 17 games, Young racked up 31 tackles, 5.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and three defended passes. Those numbers may not be eye-popping, but they're solid and he was able to stay healthy for an entire season.
Taking a chance on the 25-year-old defensive end would make a lot of sense for Chicago.
