According to new reports, Manchester United scouts were in attendance at PGS’s mid-week game against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League.
In the game, Les Parisiens struggled to find the net past an inspired Alisson before Harvey Elliott’s late winner gave the English side a 1-0 victory.
But the result wasn’t of key importance for Manchester United’s scouting team as they were more focused on identifying players who could join The Red Devils next season.
After a poor season, strengthening at Old Trafford is required but there are also added complications when it comes to Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
With rumours about INEOS’ plans to cut key players from the squad circulating, news has emerged that United are now looking at young Championship talent to replace some of the biggest earners at the club and restore long term success.
And it seems that the net has been cast slightly further to find top talent and it’s a name that has been linked with Manchester United in the past.

According to StrettyNews, Man Utd scouted Paris Saint-Germain teenager Desire Doue during PSG’s UEFA Champions league loss to Liverpool on Wednesday night.
The 19 year-old French winger burst on the scene at Rennes last season and caught PSG’s eye, as well as many other top European clubs including Manchester United who were eager to sign the talented youngster.
In the end, PSG ended up paying €50m for him to take him to the Parc des Princes.
On top of his appearance against Liverpool, StrettyNews report that United scouts also witnessed Doue’s performance against Lille last Saturday, in which he scored one goal and assisted Marquinhos in another.
While Desire Doue would clearly be a valuable asset for Ruben Amorim’s side, it’s hard to see a transfer happening.
Doue is now valued at €100m, which would seem way out of United’s reach for one player based on some of the financial decisions that the club have been making lately.
Although the two clubs have done business in the past, most recently when Manchester United signed Manual Ugarte from PSG, it’s highly improbable that the two will do business over a €100m deal this summer.
Instead, it may be the case that Manchester United’s scouts are told to find the next Desire Doue rather than give PSG a considerable portion of their summer transfer budget.
