The Tennessee Titans need to upgrade the interior of their offensive line this offseason, particularly at right guard. While right tackle will be the team's primary focus up front, the entire right side caused issues throughout a disappointing 2024 campaign. Pending free agent Dillon Radunzdelivered league-average results this past season, and there's room for improvement.
Radunz was credited by Pro Football Focus with allowing 6.0 sacks (ranked 125 out of 135 qualifying guards) and 23 pressures this past season. His pass protection grade was an average 63.9 despite the constant pressure allowed, and his run-blocking grade was even worse at 53.6. Radunz never met expectations in Tennessee, and the new regime may be content to move on from a previous decision-makers' mistake.
New general manager Mike Borgonzi is tasked with identifying and acquiring a right guard who can start right away. Upgrading the right side of the offensive line to be in-line with the promising duo of JC Latham and Peter Skoronski on the left side would drastically alter the state of the overall O-line. Though the Titans don't plan on being big spenders in free agency, they do possess coaching and executive ties to various pending free agents who can provide a solution. We've identified three potential targets.
Cody Ford | Cincinnati Bengals
Veteran journeyman Cody Ford isn't a starting-caliber blocker, but he'd provide depth and competition across the interior. The Titans are slated to lose two of those types in Daniel Brunskill and Corey Levin to free agency. Titans head coach Brian Callahan spent the 2023 campaign alongside Ford in Cincinnati.
Brandon Scherff | Jacksonville Jaguars
Brandon Scherff has multiple connections to the Titans. Position coach Bill Callahan was his offensive line coach with the Washington Commanders. More recently, offensive coordinator Nick Holz was on the offensive staff with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Despite his advancing age, Scherff has remained a useful asset, starting 51 consecutive games in Jacksonville. He wasn't credited with allowing a single sack this past season, which would represent a massive upgrade for the Titans in pass protection.
Hakeem Adeniji | Cleveland Browns
Callahan spent three seasons (2020-22) as Adeniji's offensive coordinator in Cincinnati. Adeniji has become a journeyman, spending the last three campaigns with three different franchises. He certainly isn't a starting-caliber blocker, but could be viewed as a viable back-end piece with a little tackle-guard flexibility. The Titans need both starters and depth pieces across the offensive line.
