In terms of "need''? D.K. Metcalf and the Pittsburgh Steelers make a lot of sense.
In terms of "price tag''
Maybe that solves the "mystery'' of why The Steel City isn't listed as a destination point at this time for the standout receiver who wants out of Seattle.
According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, there is presently a three-team list of bidders for the physically freakish receiver.
That's the Las Vegas Raiders, the Carolina Panthers and the Green Bay Packers who have reportedly made it clear that they are interested in Metcalf.
And the Steelers?
They have come up short time and time again in their plan at wide receiver, which is all about finding a partner for pass-catcher George Pickens.
The oddsmakers see Metcalf and the Steelers as a match, making Pittsburgh No. 2 in the pecking order when it comes to predicting his next team.
But the oddsmakers and the media are in conflict here.
And why? As Metcalf has gone public with trade request, there is a cost to all of this.
Seattle is now noting that it has taken a number of calls. But maybe "a number'' in terms of seriousness is "three'' - especially if as one outlet reports it is true that Seattle's trade asking price is a first- and a third-round pick.
That is excessive, especially when paired with the fact that Metcalf, who has one year and $32 million remaining on his deal, might have a going-forward contractual asking price that is going to be $30 million per year.
That might be excessive, too.
The Steelers front office has its hands full when it comes to figuring out what to do when it comes to who is going to throw the ball to Pickens and to ... whomever. But there will be changes there, at both spots.
Trading for the gifted 6-4 Seahawks receiver Metcalf is a way to change the Pittsburgh offense. But the Steelers first need to get on that call list.
