TV pundit Jamie Carragher has shared his Champions League prediction.

Aston Villa are on course to progress into the quarter-finals of the Champions League after a 3-1 first leg victory over last-16 opponents Club Brugge on Tuesday night.

Unai Emery's side secured a significant win in Belgium, as Leon Bailey and Tyrone Mings were on the score-sheet for the visitors first up. Villa scored a late third when Marco Asensio converted from the penalty spot.

It means they head into the reverse fixture at Villa Park with a two-goal advantage.

Villa will already be aware of their quarter-final opponents will either be Liverpool or Paris Saint-Germain.

The French champions fell to a 1-0 home reverse to Arne Slot's Premier League favourites on Wednesday night - despite dominating throughout and seeing a goal disallowed. Although there is still the second leg to play for at Anfield, Jamie Carragher has backed his former club to get past PSG.

While on punditry duty for CBS Sports, ex-Liverpool defender Carragher, Micah Richards, Peter Schmeichel and host Kate Scott all predicted their Champions League winners.

When predicting the team most likely to go through to the semi-finals, Carragher said: "I'm going to go for Real Madrid to beat the Arsenal and I'm going to go for Liverpool to beat Aston Villa comfortably."

Emery, meanwhile, was asked about the possibility of playing the former team he coached, PSG in the quarter-finals. He said: "I coached there for two years, but the football is going forward. They will play against Liverpool. Amazing match, but I don't know who is the favourite.

"I'm focusing on the next match we are going to play against Brugge."
