The Golden State Warriors escaped with a 121-119 win over the Brooklyn Nets Thursday night, fueled by 11-time All-Star Stephen Curry's 40-point performance. The win increased Golden State's win streak to three and boosted their record to 10-2 in their last 12 games.
The former seventh pick in the draft out of Davidson is 10th All-Time in 40-point games, with Thursday's game being the 70th time he scored 40 or more in a contest. This comes just one week after dropping 56 points against the Orlando Magic in a win.
That said, based on Curry's postgame comments, it seems he has his eyes on something more important than scoring.
Speaking on NBC Sports Bay Area's Warriors Postgame Live, Curry admitted the Warriors as a team were playing horrible to start Thursday's game.
"Just being honest with ourselves that we were playing horrible," Curry said. "You got to be accountable, each and every one of us. We weren't playing hard. We weren't playing physical."

Even with a win, the four-time NBA Champion doesn't want the team to get complacent with playing a level of basketball they aren't happy with. After all, the Warriors have a difficult stretch approaching them with five playoff-projected opponents in six games. The last three of these games are against top-four seeded teams.
Golden State has been ascending up the Western Conference standings ever since trading for six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler. In games Butler has played in, the Warriors are 10-1, including eight wins in a row.
While currently the sixth seed, the Warriors sit just 3.5 games back of the Memphis Grizzlies for the fourth seed, which would acquire home-court advantage for the first round of the playoffs.
