Jamie Carragher warns Ruben Amorim of two Man Utd things that he‘really needs to worry about,’he’s unfazed by both

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher has dropped his two cents on Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim’s “early struggles” at Old Trafford in the current campaign.

Ruben Amorim only arrived at the Premier League club last November after he left Sporting CP and replaced Erik ten Hag in the Old Trafford hot seat this season.

Erik ten Hag’s reign as Manchester United manager came to an end last October with his sacking, with Ruud van Nistelrooy briefly serving as interim manager.

United endured a disastrous start to the season under former United manager Ten Hag in 2024, but Amorim has faced his own struggles at the Red Devils.

The Red Devils are 14th in the Premier League table under Amorim and their hopes of finishing in the top four for the 2024-25 season are all but over.

United’s FA Cup title defence also came to an end last weekend and Fulham knocked the Red Devils out of competition on penalties at Old Trafford last Sunday.

Amorim’s men remain in the Europa League and UEFA’s second-tier club competition remains United’s only real viable route to the Champions League for next season.

The Red Devils began their campaign in the knockout rounds of the Europa League on Thursday evening and walked away with a 1-1 draw against Real Sociedad.

What Jamie Carragher has seen from Ruben Amorim at Man Utd

Ruben Amorim is Manchester United’s sixth permanent manager since the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson bowed out of Old Trafford at the end of the 2012-13 campaign.

The former Sporting CP boss faces an uphill task in putting United back in a place for challenging for Premier League titles in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.

Jamie Carragher claimed that United fans must be “pinning their hopes” on Amorim working out at the Red Devils due to his success at Portuguese outfit Sporting.

Speaking in his column for The Daily Telegraph, the Liverpool legend said: “Amorim’s early struggles at United are a reminder of how tough it is to revive a fallen giant.

“At the moment, United fans must feel like they are pinning their hopes on blind faith based on Amorim’s record at Sporting Lisbon.

“United’s players have not responded well to his methods. Has a single player looked any better than they were under Ten Hag?

“In fairness, most of the United players have surrendered any right to express disapproval about any manager given how poor they have been for so long.”

Jamie Carragher names what Ruben Amorim must avoid at Man Utd

Amorim has been backed by United fans amid the Red Devils’ woeful form in the 2024-25 season and the Portuguese coach has absorbed the pressure on him.

The United manager signed his contract until June 2027 and Amorim has been backed as the main man to revive the club’s fortunes after Erik ten Hag’s sacking.

Carragher warned Amorim that his two concerns at United should be the “supporters and executives” due to their expectations for the Red Devils’ eventual bounce back.

“It is the supporters and executives Amorim really needs to worry about,” he continued.

“They will have a timeframe in mind for United getting back to the top. They may have calculated taking a step back before they can imagine leaping forward.

“What they would not have imagined is a side who are performing so consistently badly.”

United will now return to Premier League action on Sunday when they host rivals Arsenal at Old Trafford, with kick-off slated for 4:30pm UK time.
