Arsenal have long been linked with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, but interest in the in-form striker is intensifying with each passing day.
The Gunners have identified him as their top summer target, still over the past few months, Liverpool, Manchester United, and even Tottenham Hotspur have entered the race for the Slovenian forward.
Sesko’s release clause stands at €75 million, and according to Sky Sports, it will be active during the summer transfer window. Compared to the hefty price tags of Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres, Sesko is a much more affordable option and that’s made him a priority for several top European clubs.
Will Arsenal Miss Out on Benjamin Sesko?
Arsenal would love to sign Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, but his valuation is reportedly close to €100 million, a number well beyond the Gunners’ summer budget.
With Benjamin Sesko available for €75 million, Arsenal have a realistic shot at securing his signature. The North London side can certainly compete financially with Manchester United and Spurs, but Liverpool’s involvement will complicate matters and diminish Arsenal’s chances.
The Slovenian striker would likely prefer a move to Arsenal, especially with Champions League football on offer next season. However, Liverpool will be an even more tempting destination. Reports suggest the Reds are planning to offload Darwin Nunez this summer, potentially paving the way for Benjamin Sesko to step in as a first-choice striker under Arne Slot next season.
Arsenal are in desperate need of a top-class centre-forward and if they fail to land Isak, Mikel Arteta should push his management to go all out for Sesko.
While four Premier League clubs are monitoring the Leipzig striker, Liverpool are going to be Arsenal’s biggest threat. The Gunners’ Premier League title challenge this season has derailed due to the lack of an in-form striker, and missing out on their primary summer targets could set them back even further.
Liverpool’s dominance this season has made them an attractive destination for any player and if they win both the Premier League and Champions League, convincing Benjamin Sesko to snub Arsenal will not be a difficult task for the Reds.
Is the Leipzig Man Worth €75 Million?
Currently valued at €50 million, Benjamin Sesko has already proven his potential at Leipzig. He has scored 35 goals in 76 appearances for the Bundesliga club and has contributed 22 goal involvements in 34 matches this season. His current xG is 6.74 and his 10 league goals have come from just 24 shots on target.
Given the sky-high valuations of Gyokeres, Isak, and Victor Osimhen—all of whom are priced at €90 million or more—Sesko’s €75 million release clause appears to be a reasonable investment for a club like Arsenal who are in need of a prolific young striker.
