Brentford Under-21s took all three points after a hard fought win against Colchester United away from home.
An Isaac Holland penalty and Riley Owen strike from the edge of the box gave the young Bees the narrow win against the resilient U's.
Former Bee, Kyreece Lisbie was also in action for his new side following his January move to the The U's.
Sam Saunders took charge of today's game.
Kyreece Lisbie had the first chance of the game, making a darting run through the centre of the pitch and striking a shot on goal.
After an even first 15 minutes, Vonnte Williams was upended in the box and the referee pointed straight to the spot. Isaac Holland stepped up and confidently dispatched to give Brentford the lead.
Lisbie had another chance to get on the scoresheet against his former side but Tavaziva in the net made the stop to deny the winger.
Max Dickov was next to go close as he took a fabulous touch to set himself, following a Riley Owen pass but the striker for the day was denied by Jude Sadler in the Colchester net.
Caelan Avenell should have doubled the lead though as his header in the box was put agonisingly wide.
Dickov went close again in the first period as his powerful effort beat the keeper but just went wide of the post.
Lisbie would make no mistake when given his third chance of the game, pouncing on a loose ball and finishing well as the home side levelled just before the half-time whistle.
Tavaziva had to make a good save to deny Hakeem Sandah’s shot which was on target, early in the second period.
Donovan had the young Bees’ first meaningful shot of the second-half as he stung the gloves of the Colchester keeper with a fierce shot from distance.
On the stroke of the hour mark, Saunders’ side took the lead, and it was Owen who was given time and space on the edge of the box to set himself and find the corner of the net.
The young Bees were pushing for the all-important third and in quick succession Donovan and Grey went close, with the latter hitting the post with a deflected effort.
That was how the game would end as the young Bees made it three wins on the bounce ins the Professional development League.
The win today means that the under-21s have reclaimed top sport from Charlton following their win against Watford earlier in the day.
With only the top two teams from the South section set to face the top two from the North in the PDL semi-finals in May, Brentford, Charlton, and Millwall look to be the main contenders for those coveted spots.
The Under-21s take a break from league action as they fly abroad to take on Monaco's under-23s. This will take place on Monday 11 March and kick-off is scheduled for 12pm local time.
