The San Antonio Spurs will try to win their second consecutive game when they play the Sacramento Kings tonight on the road. The Spurs have a record of 26-34, while the Kings have the 9th seed in the Western Conference with a record of 32-29.
In San Antonio’s win over the Brooklyn Nets, Devin Vassell scored a career-high 37 points. He hit eight of his first nine three-point attempts. He also pulled down 11 rebounds in his all-around great performance.
In their last outing, the Kings lost to the Denver Nuggets by a final score of 116-110. Prior to that game, Sacramento was riding a four-game winning streak.
De’Aaron Fox Returns to Sacramento
Tonight’s game will be De’Aaron Fox’s first game back in Sacramento after the Kings traded him to the Spurs. The Kings drafted Fox fifth overall in the 2017 draft and he played his first seven and a half seasons in Sacramento. He made an All-Star team and was one of the most successful players in the franchise’s history.
Earlier this season, Fox indicated that he wasn’t planning on re-signing with the Kings and told the team that his preference was to land in San Antonio. It didn’t take long for the Spurs and Kings to agree to a three-team deal with the Chicago Bulls.
Zach LaVine, who the Kings acquired from the Bulls in the Fox trade, has turned into Sacramento’s leading scorer since joining the team. He’s averaging 22.3 points per game, which is slightly higher than DeMar DeRozan’s 22.2 points.
Before getting traded, Fox was averaging 25.0 points for the Kings. Since joining the Silver and Black, he’s averaging 19.3 points per game.
San Antonio Spurs Injury Update
The Spurs will once again be without Charles Bassey. The backup center is dealing with a knee injury.
Bassey’s minutes have been absorbed by Bismack Biyombo and the veteran center has played really well. Biyombo is averaging 6.1 points and 5.7 rebounds in 17.7 minutes per game. He has recorded three double-doubles in his last six games.
Sacramento Kings Injury Update
The Kings will be missing two important players in what promises to be an emotional game. Domantas Sabonis is out with a hamstring injury and Malik Monk will be sidelined with a toe injury.
