Shedeur Sanders Predicted to Land with AFC Playoff Contender in NFL Mock Draft

The 2025 NFL Draft is quickly approaching. All first-round selections are scheduled to take place on April 24, and one of the biggest questions remains: who will draft Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders?

He currently ranks as the No. 47 player available on Pro Football Focus' big board, but considering he plays the most important position on a football team, he has the fourth-best odds (+2000) to be the No. 1 pick, per ESPN BET.

In a mock draft done by Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports, he predicts that Sanders will fall near the middle of those two numbers with the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 21.

"As mentioned earlier, Cam Ward is the lone QB in this class I think is worth a first-round pick, but it's not a knock on Shedeur Sanders," he wrote. "I believe he's is the most NFL-ready prospect in the class. What I don't know is how much room for growth is left here?"

That puts him in a position to be the Steelers' Week 1 starter in 2025, after the team's two main starters from 2024, Russell Wilson (11 starts) and Justin Fields (six starts) are both set to hit free agency.

However, it would at least put Sanders with an extremely stable organization under head coach Mike Tomlin, who has yet to have a losing season since joining the Steelers in 2007.

It's clear the team also needs some sort of spark, having lost in the wild-card round four times in as many playoff appearances since 2020 and Sanders could prove to be just that.
