[Real Madrid](https://www.managingmadrid.com) have held talks with Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso over the Spaniard’s possible move to the capital of Spain, reports Mario Cortegana of The Athletic. The arrangement could even happen this summer, the report says.
Important people at Real Madrid feel that Alonso’s dynamic style of football, along with the modern aspect of it, could unlock the potential of several players in the squad.
Ancelotti, who is aware of these talks, wants to stay at the club, and winning either La Liga or [Champions League](https://www.sbnation.com/champions-league) could, in the short-term, successfully keep him where he wants to be.
However, his current contract also means that Real Madrid could get him to stay in a non-coaching role, as they think he could offer the club with a lot of things in different areas.
It remains to be seen what Real Madrid do with the coaching job in the summer, as there is a long way to go before that decision is made.
