The Dallas Mavericks just cannot get healthy, as they continue to lose players to injury, with their most recent significant loss seeing Kyrie Irving suffer a season-ending torn ACL. However, according to Jason Kidd, one player in superstar forward Anthony Davis could be trending in the right direction with his own injury woes.
As if losing Irving wasn't bad enough, the Mavericks have also lost Jaden Hardy to an ankle injury and Olivier-Maxence Prosper to a wrist injury in the wake of Irving's injury. While Hardy could potentially return this season, Prosper's injury was significant enough that he got ruled out for the year on Friday.
"Another injury blow to Dallas: Mavericks forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper has a serious right wrist injury and is expected to require season-ending surgery, sources tell ESPN," Shams Charania of ESPN reported in a post on X.
Simply put, Dallas is running increasingly short on healthy bodies right now. However, according to Kidd, Davis appears to be trending in the right direction, although he refused to get into whether or not it's possible for him to make a return to the court this season.
"AD is trending in the right direction," Kidd said ahead of the Mavericks upcoming game with the Memphis Grizzlies. "As we go forward, there will be more news to come, but hopefully it says that he'll be able to play, but we just don't know when."

Getting Davis back would be a huge boost for the Mavericks, as he's averaging 25.7 points, 12 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 52.8% from the field. He only managed to suit up in one game for Dallas, though, before he suffered a groin injury that has held him off the court since.
The Mavericks will try to get back on track on Friday night when they take on the Grizzlies. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST.
