Bears Fuel Speculation About All-Pro’s Return on Social Media

The Chicago Bears are well positioned to make a splash at edge rusher in free agency next week after using the trade market to fortify their offensive line.

The rumors about them bringing back their former superstar - five-time All-Pro Khalil Mack - also haven't faded in the days leading up to negotiations. 670 The Score's Chris Emma has even reported Mack "has interest" in a reunion.

That's why some fans think the Bears might be teasing a big move to come with their most recent post on social media, one that featured a whole lot of Mack.

On Friday, the Bears shared a highlight reel to their official X account with a voiceover about the "Monsters of the Midway" that featured past legends like Brian Urlacher and Chase Tillman. They also included multiple Mack highlights.

"Leave your legacy," the team wrote in the caption above the video, prompting fans to fill the comments with excited curiosity about Mack's heavy presence.

While Bears fans might be working themselves up for nothing, there are compelling reasons to think Mack could re-sign with Chicago for the 2025 season.

For starters, Mack is still a phenomenal player. He has tallied 31 sacks in three seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, recording a career-high 17 for their defense in 2023. He has also made the Pro Bowl each year, making him a high-quality veteran who would complement Bears starter Montez Sweat nicely.

The Bears also have the resources to pay him even though the 34-year-old is unlikely to chase the top dollar he once so deservedly earned. Pro Football Focus projects he could sign for as much as $22.5 million annually, but Chicago has $48.1 million in available cap space, according to Over the Cap.

That's certainly enough money to bridge any gaps if the Bears are motivated to reunite with Mack - so long as other suitors don't price them out.

The NFL's legal tampering period begins at noon ET on March 10.
