The Miami Heat will be taking on the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight as both teams try to position themselves for the postseason. However, entering this game, both sides are dealing with some injuries.
Minnesota has listed center Rudy Gobert on the injury report ahead of this matchup. Gobert was listed as questionable for the contest and will be out this game.
The Timberwolves are a vastly different team when Gobert plays as he gives them a legitimate defensive presence in the middle. With Miami having center Bam Adebayo in this contest, the availability of Gobert becomes even more important.
For the year, the multi-time Defensive Player of the Year has averaged 11.0 points, 10.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game. Gobert has missed the past nine games for Minnesota as he deals with a lower back injury.
As for Miami, the biggest name on their injury report is All-Star guard Tyler Herro. Herro was listed as questionable for this game and will play in this contest.
Herro missed the team's last game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. His presence on the floor for Miami has become more paramount since the team traded away star forward Jimmy Butler.
The All-Star has seen his averages all increase this year and he has had a spectacular season for the Heat. On the year, Herro has averaged 23.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game.
Herro has been a steady presence for Miami this year, giving them a nice complement to Adebayo on the floor. Additionally, the acquisition of forward Andrew Wiggins has been a good one for the Heat.
Entering this game, Miami owns a record of 29-32 for the year. They are currently slotted in the No. 7 spot within the Eastern Conference standings.
Miami has lost six of their past 10 games overall so they will be looking to turn things around against Minnesota. The Heat are battling for a spot in the Play-In right now so every game is crucial at this point in the year.
As for Minnesota, they own a record of 35-29 for the season. The Timberwolves hold the No. 7 spot in the Western Conference standings but only four games separate them from being the No. 4 seed.
With how tight the West is this year, every game becomes magnified down the stretch. Minnesota will look to improve upon their road record tonight and make it four wins in a row.
