“It would be a waste”–Casemiro agrees with Ruben Amorim decision that reinvigorated Man Utd teammate

Manchester United star Casemiro has agreed with one of Ruben Amorim’s decisions that has reinvigorated one teammate at Old Trafford.

Casemiro has had some struggles since Ruben Amorim took charge at Manchester United earlier this season.

The experienced midfielder has not been a regular in the team, with his minutes being limited. Although he did impress last time out against Real Sociedad.

Joshua Zirkzee scored United’s only goal in that game and has been a rare bright spark for United recently.

However, he has not been playing up front as he did in the early months of his career at Old Trafford. Instead, the Dutchman has been operating as one of the two no.10’s in Amorim’s system.

Casemiro agrees with Amorim’s Zirkzee change

Amorim has explained that he does not see Zirkzee as the no.9 in his team and instead prefers him in one of the advanced midfielder roles, where he has played in the last five games.

It is a move that looks to have reinvigorated the 23-year-old who had a difficult start to life at United after his summer move from Bologna.

Casemiro has agreed with the move from Amorim, and believes that it is a “waste” for Zirkzee to be staying up front.

The Brazilian instead thinks that the forward is better when able to move deeper and create for others on the pitch.

“He’s a very good player,” Casemiro said of Zirkzee. “He’s not a no.9 who stays [in the middle] like Rasmus [Hojlund]. It would be a waste to have him standing up there alone.

“He plays as a bit of a ten, which is what this coach likes. He’s very good, he’s got a lot of quality, he likes to control the ball, to spin. He’s more of a player who wants to play and create.”

Casemiro could be key to United in Europa League

Casemiro might not be at his best anymore but the midfielder can still produce some solid performances, as seen on Thursday evening.

It is no secret that these Europa League games are not as fast-paced and physical as the clashes United face in the Premier League and that has become the Brazilian’s biggest issue.

However, Amorim may look at the European competition as Casemiro’s best chance of contributing before the end of the season.

Not only can he compete better physically–allowing his passing and break-up play to be more impactful–but the 33-year-old also offers experience that is needed to win trophies.

Amorim might not entirely trust Casemiro, but he may end up being key for the side if they end up going far in the Europa League.
