The Basque boss said managing the injury is made easier, though, with the availability of Alex Scott, who returned from injury in February.
Christie was forced off inside half an hour against Brighton, before missing the FA Cup game against Wolves.
Giving an update on the Scot, Iraola said: “I think it’s something chronic. He's dealing with some pain, and I think it's a situation that we will have to manage it day by day.

“I am not ruling him out, but also I trust Ryan a lot and he knows his body and sometimes he comes and he says okay, I'm feeling well, I think I can give it a go. And he trains and he feels well. Sometimes he comes and he's in pain.
“So it's not an easy situation to deal with during the season.
“Probably he needs some rest but obviously he wants to continue playing and it’s this situation that we have to continue dealing with and I think we will try to continue trying to make him play especially if he's in a good mood that I think he is now.”
Iraola explained that a surgery on the issue is not the intention at the moment, but if they did opt for that, it would be ‘better for everyone’ if it was in the summer and it would be a decision for him and the doctors to make.

In Christie’s place against Wolves was Scott, who played 84 minutes.
On having the Englishman available to help manage Christie’s injury, Iraola said: “For us it's a big advantage.
“I think also the more Alex plays, the better he will be.
“He's also coming from quite a long injury, so he's in this the same place as Sinisterra, as Evanilson, as players that have come from quite lengthy injuries and they are getting to their shape, but he has shown a good level.”
