Seahawks Star’s Reaction to Geno Smith-Raiders Trade Turns Heads

The Seattle Seahawks made a major move on Friday, agreeing to trade quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders for a third-round pick, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. The move came as a shock to many, as head coach Mike Macdonald reiterated just last month that Smith was their man under center.

"Geno's our quarterback," Macdonald said. "I don't understand the conversation. It's pretty obvious this guy is a heck of a quarterback. He's our quarterback. We love him. Can't wait to go to work with him."

After the trade was reported, Seahawks Pro Bowl wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba shared his reaction on social media.

"Broooo I just got up you lying," he wrote.

Smith-Njigba's reaction sparked a wave of responses from fans on social media. Many focused on the fact that he had just woken up, seeing the news for the first time over three hours after it happened.

"Bro, at this point, stop going to sleep," one fan said.

"gaming all night huh," another wrote.

"Go Back to sleep Jaxon...," a fan added.

"What do you sleep all day? Jesus," one wrote.

"Bro you gotta wake up earlier fam ," another fan said.

"Why u sleeping at this time," another added.

The decision to trade Smith, the team's starting quarterback for the past three seasons, came after failed contract extension talks. With just one year left on his deal, the team opted to move on from the 34-year-old.

He is now set to reunite with his former Seahawks head coach, Pete Carroll, who was hired by the Raiders this offseason. The trade won't be official until the new league year begins on March 12.

Smith has spent time with the New York Jets, New York Giants and the Los Angeles Chargers before landing with the Seahawks in 2019. In 11 years, he's thrown for 19,143 yards, 105 touchdowns and 72 interceptions.
