Chelsea will be looking to build on their recent two victories when they take on Leicester City on Sunday. The Blues cruised to a 4-0 victory over Southampton last week before running out 2-1 winners in the opening leg of their European Conference League Round of 16 clash against Copenhagen.
Several fringe stars underwhelmed in Denmark, and Enzo Maresca is therefore likely to shake up his starting XI to try and get all three points against his former side.
Express Sport takes a look at how Chelsea are likely to line up at Stamford Bridge…
Chelsea predicted XI vs Leicester City (4-3-3)
Goalkeeper – Jorgensen
Filip Jorgensen now appears to be Maresca’s first-choice goalkeeper for Premier League matches, with Robert Sanchez featuring against Copenhagen earlier this week. The 22-year-old will be hoping to earn his second clean sheet of the campaign against the Foxes.
Defence – Acheampong, Fofana, Colwill, Cucurella
Malo Gusto limped off in the first half of the Copenhagen clash, and the French defender remains in a race against time to feature this weekend. Reece James has also played the full 90 minutes in midfield despite having his workload managed, and therefore Josh Acheampong may enter the fray in right-back.
Maresca confirmed that Wesley Fofana is fit to face his former side and could reunite with Levi Colwill in centre-back. Marc Cucurella remains a stalwart in left-back.
Midfield – Caicedo, Fernandez, Palmer
With James potentially set to be rotated out of the starting XI, Enzo Fernandez may drop deeper into the No. 8 role. Moises Caicedo is set to feature against Leicester, despite having nine yellow cards to his name this season and therefore being one booking away from a two-game suspension.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall struggled in Copenhagen and it is hard to envision the ex-Foxes playmaker starting in midfield, especially with Cole Palmer available.
Forwards – Sancho, Neto, Nkunku
Pedro Neto has emerged with plenty of credit since playing as a makeshift striker whilst Nicolas Jackson and Marco Guiu are ruled out through injury, and the Portuguese playmaker is likely to return to the starting XI in that central role.
Jadon Sancho has not registered a direct goal contribution since January 4 but could get his loan spell from Manchester United back on track whilst Noni Madueke and Mykhaylo Mudryk are sidelined.
