Report: Cardinals Have Inquired About $21 Million All-Pro Trade Candidate

Another top tier edge rusher has become available this offseason, which is great news for the Arizona Cardinals.

The team needs to make some upgrades to their pass rush and fans are hoping to see them spend to make that happen.

It hasn't yet become clear how they will make the improvements they need, but another big name becoming a trade candidate just gives the Cardinals one more option to make a splash.

It seems they are particularly interested in this latest option.

According to PHNX Cardinals' Johnny Venerable, the Cardinals have inquired about Cincinnati Bengals edge Trey Hendrickson after it was revealed they would allow him to seek a trade.

Hendrickson has been great over his four seasons with the Bengals. He has made the Pro Bowl in each of his four years with the team.

He has been particularly dominant over the past couple of seasons. Hendrickson racked up 17.5 sacks in each of the last two years.

In 2024 that was enough for him to earn a First Team All-Pro nod and finish second in the Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Despite his success with the team and their major struggles on defense, the Bengals are now letting him seek a trade rather than give him the money he is looking for in a contract extension.

That could provide the Cardinals with a great opportunity.

The asking price on Hendrickson is reported to be just a late second or early third-round pick. That's a pretty reasonable price for somebody who has been so productive in recent seasons, even if he is 30 years old and looking to get paid.

With the Seahawks trading away Geno Smith, things are really starting to open up in the NFC West. The Cardinals could take advantage of the opportunity with a move for Hendrickson.

The Cardinals need a big addition to their pass rush to turn a defense that was among the league's worst in 2024 when it comes to pressuring opposing QBs into one that can propel a playoff run.

Hendrickson fits the bill.

If the Cardinals' front office is serious about making a run right now, this is the type of move they need to make with all of the cap space they have to throw around this offseason.
