Manchester United will have one eye on Real Sociedad's visit four days later when they host Arsenal at Old Trafford in Sunday's Premier League clash. Ruben Amorim has stressed his side must simply "survive" against the Gunners this weekend, knowing the Europa League campaign is their final opportunity to save their season.
While Arsenal are clinging onto their fading hopes of the Premier League title, United are slumped in 14th with very little to play for but pride. But Amorim needs to build some momentum if the Red Devils are to have any chance of progressing past La Real next Thursday and going deep in the Europa League.
Express Sport runs through the likely United lineup against Arsenal from a limited pool of already fatigued players.
Man Utd predicted XI vs Arsenal (3-4-3)
Goalkeeper - Onana
Andre Onana has kept just one Premier League clean sheet in 2025 but will continue between the sticks, with Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton still out injured.
Defence - Lindelof, De Ligt, Yoro
Amorim was without Harry Maguire in Spain midweek through a "minor" injury, adding to the absence of Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez and Jonny Evans.
Matthijs de Ligt has produced a fine run of defensive displays and will likely continue at the heart of United's back three despite clearly running on fumes.
Victor Lindelof is set to enter the team if Maguire hasn't recovered in time for Arsenal's visit, with Ayden Heaven remaining on the bench.
Leny Yoro will feature on the other side of De Ligt.
Midfield - Mazraoui, Casemiro, Fernandes, Dalot
Patrick Dorgu returned to action in the Europa League but has two more games to serve in his domestic suspension.
That should see Noussair Mazraoui return to wing-back, with Diogo Dalot moving over to the left.
Toby Collyer and Christian Eriksen are Amorim's only options for changes in midfield. The Portuguese tactician is unlikely to risk Manuel Ugarte, who also missed the La Real draw through a minor issue.
Casemiro played well on his return to Spain and is primed to partner Bruno Fernandes as the midfield partnership.
Attack - Zirkzee, Garnacho, Hojlund
Joshua Zirkzee scored his second goal in 17 games to fire United ahead in San Sebastian last time out and has looked like the club's best attacker in recent weeks.
Alejandro Garnacho was handed some rest through his 78th-minute substitution, and his pace should prove crucial on the break against an Arsenal side expected to control proceedings.
Chido Obi is available to face his former club, but it would be surprising to see Amorim pull the trigger and offer him his first start. Rasmus Hojlund is in line to continue in the starting lineup.
