ERC hosts largest Iftar ever in Mukalla

The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has organised the longest Iftar table in the city of Mukalla in Hadhramaut Governorate, Yemen.

The event brought together 4,000 people of diverse age groups, doubling last year’s attendance of 2,000.

This initiative is part of a series of charitable activities organised by the ERC to promote humanitarian values and social cohesion.

Participants expressed their gratitude, highlighting its role in bringing people together and reinforcing the spirit of solidarity.

Recently, the ERC launched its annual Ramadan Iftar Project in Mukalla as part of the UAE’s ongoing humanitarian and relief efforts for the Yemeni people.

Hamid Rashid Al Shamsi, Adviser for Development and International Cooperation and ERC Representative in Hadramaut Governorate, emphasised that the project reflects the UAE’s steadfast commitment to humanitarian aid and reinforces the bonds of brotherhood and cooperation between the two nations.

Hundreds of citizens benefited from the Iftar Project, expressing their profound gratitude to the UAE for this generous initiative and conveying their sincere appreciation to the Emirates Red Crescent for its timely humanitarian gesture during the holy month.

Last year, the ERC had distributed Zakat Al Fitr in Mukalla, benefiting around 1,270 families facing challenging economic and living conditions in the region. The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation to the UAE for this generous gesture, which brought happiness and relief to their lives during a tough period.

They lauded ERC’s work in addressing their needs and offering essential support. The initiative is part of ERC’s broader mission to aid vulnerable families and provide necessary assistance, especially given the country’s ongoing challenges.

ERC’s voluntary activities underscore values of social and human solidarity, helping ease the burdens faced by beneficiaries from the start of Ramadan through Eid Al Fitr.
