We round up the biggest new Premier League transfer rumours, with stories from Liverpool, Newcastle, West Ham and more.

The weekend is upon us at last, and what better to celebrate the coming days of liberty than by soaking up a slew of brand new Premier League transfer rumours? So the same as every other day, really, but at least you can read our daily digest from the comfort of your bed rather than on the morning commute.

Anyway, we’ll get the ball rolling today with a tale that should interest Liverpool supporters – according to TeamTalk, the Reds have found an alternative to long-term target Martín Zubimendi in the shape of Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller.

Arne Slot and his side are “admirers” of the 23-year-old, whose contract includes a release clause worth just over £30m. Unfortunately for Liverpool, that clause doesn’t kick in until 2026, but at least it gives us a ballpark figure to start with.

The midfielder, apparently tagged as the “new Toni Kroos” is described as being the “right profile of player” for Liverpool’s current recruitment strategy due to his age and technical quality. There’s also a brief mention in the report that Liverpool have interested in Turkish forward Kenan Yildiz, who currently plays for Juventus.

The 3AM Verdict: Stiller has been on fine form for a while now and his name is one we’re starting to see crop up more and more – but he’s more of a pressing midfielder rather than a natural holding player, so whether he’s right for Liverpool depends on how Slot plans to line his midfield up in the coming months and years. In the current system, he might overlap with Ryan Gravenberch and Curtis Jones a little too much to be of serious interest, but if they move to a more traditional double pivot then we could see it.

‘Next few weeks decisive’ in West Ham chase

Over to Sport Witness now – they reckon that “the next few weeks will be decisive” in West Ham United’s bid to snap up England international Angel Gomes on a free transfer when his current contract with Lille expires at the end of the season.

That’s because several sides in the Premier League and perhaps elsewhere are interested in the 24-year-old, including former club Manchester United, and West Ham (who have already opened up talks with Gomes’ entourage) will need to make good use of their head start to persuade Gomes to head to the London Stadium before he gets his head turned. It sounds like Lille don’t stand much chance of getting him to pen a new deal.

The 3AM Verdict: West Ham’s interested in Gomes is genuine, but can they win what could become a busy race? Players of Gomes’ quality and age rarely become free agents, so this may be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to snap up a serious bargain. We expect that West Ham and United won’t be the only ones making offers.

Newcastle could strike deal for Chelsea target

Finally, a story from Football Insider which suggests that Newcastle United could be in the bidding for Porto striker Samu Agehowa – better known to an English audience by his former surname Omorodion, he was the forward whose transfer from Atlético Madrid to Chelsea fell through at the eleventh hour last summer.

Now in Portugal, the forward has been on scintillating form and several stories in the last month or so have suggested that Chelsea could make another bid, while Aston Villa are said to be interested too – and now, apparently, Newcastle, who could want him to replace Callum Wilson.

Porto would demand a “huge” fee, supposedly, but at the same time the report claims that he wouldn’t necessarily cost the £82.5m apparently specified in his release clause. The article also claims that Arsenal are interested, a new one on us.

The 3AM Verdict: Despite saying that Newcastle want him to replace Wilson, they also hint that this is a deal the Magpies can only afford to make if Alexander Isak leaves, which suggests that it wouldn’t be Wilson he replaces. Ultimately, there’s not much detail here on Newcastle’s interest (or Arsenal’s) but given how often his name is starting crop up now we suspect the smoke is backed up by some fire.
