“There has also been a lot of” – Paul Merson urges Maresca to do one thing to “find success”

Paul Merson has revealed what he’d like to see Enzo Maresca do with Chelsea’s wingers over their next run of games.

The Blues recorded a 2-1 win away at Copenhagen in the Conference League on Thursday night, and will be looking to make it three wins in a row in all competitions against Leicester on Sunday.

Maresca started the season really well, but the Blues have hit a slump, with just three wins in their last 11 league games, but they are still right in the hunt for Champions League qualification.

Merson urges Maresca to do one thing with wingers

Chelsea have struggled to play the free flowing football they were doing at the start of the season, with goals a lot harder to come by at the moment.

The Blues are struggling for continuity, especially in the attacking areas, due to injuries to the likes of Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson.

The wingers are really important in Maresca’s system and with Pedro Neto currently being deployed as an emergency striker the Italian only has Jadon Sancho and Tyrique George as recognised wingers.

Christopher Nkunku has been used on the left wing in recent games, and the options are limited, but Merson has urged Maresca to pick the same wingers for a run of games.

“There has also been a lot of chopping and changing when it comes to the front-three at Chelsea,” he told Sportskeeda as quoted by The Chelsea Chronicle.

“Enzo Maresca should stick to two wingers and give them a consistent run of games to find success.”

Maresca has chopped and changed with his wingers throughout the season, with Sancho coming in for criticism for his recent performances.

Madueke is Chelsea’s top scoring winger with seven Premier League goals, whilst Mykhailo Mudryk hasn’t featured since the end of November, and it’s unclear when or if he will play for the club again.

George has impressed in recent appearances and it will be interesting to see if he gets his first league start against Leicester or if Maresca sticks with the experience of Sancho and Nkunku.
