Simon Jordan claims Man Utd fans are‘happy to accept’one‘conventional wisdom’right now, it couldn’t be more accurate

TalkSPORT presenter Simon Jordan has insisted that Manchester United fans have “relative patience” in one key area of the Premier League club right now.

The Red Devils are currently on course for their worst Premier League finish since the inception of England’s top-flight league back in 1992.

Manchester United are 14th in the Premier League table after a dreadful campaign, which has seen the Red Devils win only nine league matches from 27 fixtures.

The Premier League club’s 2024-25 campaign began with former United manager Erik ten Hag being sacked as Red Devils head coach by October 2024.

Erik ten Hag’s dismissal from United left Ruud van Nistelrooy to take over as Red Devils interim manager before Ruben Amorim’s Old Trafford arrival last November.

Ruben Amorim succeeded Ten Hag in the Old Trafford hot seat and the 40-year-old United manager has endured a difficult season since his exit from Sporting CP.

United’s league form has continued to dwindle over the course of the campaign and the Red Devils now face an uphill battle to finish in the top half of the table.

What Simon Jordan believes Man Utd fans will support

Speaking in his column for The Daily Mail, Simon Jordan suggested that Manchester United fans are ready to accept the “time” needed for Ruben Amorim to succeed.

However, the talkSPORT presenter claimed that the same feeling won’t be held for “owners” and United’s hierarchy has come under scathing criticism this season.

The Glazers’ ownership has always been a contentious issue for United fans, but Red Devils co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been in the firing life this season as well.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who captured a minority stake in United back in 2023, has been met with backlash over ticket price rises and cost-cutting measures at the club.

“Fans are happy to accept the conventional wisdom that players and managers need time, hence their relative patience with Ruben Amorim at United,” Jordan said.

“But owners are considered differently. They are expected to get it instantaneously right with no excuses for mistakes.

“In the end, it could be said you get the owners you deserve.”

Why Ruben Amorim will continue to keep Man Utd fans’ support

Amorim’s reign has been slow and painful for United fans, but the former Sporting CP boss has simply had to pick up from an already low point for the Red Devils.

The United manager oversaw major success in his native homeland and the straight-talking Amorim has already made it clear that it is his way or the highway.

Amorim has not been afraid to offload players in January that don’t fit with his ideas and he will no doubt continue his major clearout in the summer transfer window.

The Portuguese coach has already shown how different he is from Erik ten Hag, with Amorim committing to his tactical system irrespective of results going against him.
