PMOI Resistance Units organized anti-regime activities across various cities in Tehran province in protest against the visit of the regime’s president, Masoud Pezeshkian, to the region. Protesters raised slogans condemning him as responsible for executions and demanding his resignation. In Tehran and surrounding cities, banners and graffiti were displayed, rejecting Pezeshkian’s visit and denouncing his role in the regime’s oppressive policies. The slogans included:
“Pezeshkian, get lost!”
“Pezeshkian, you hold the record for executions! Get out of Tehran province cities!”
“Pezeshkian, resign! You are not welcome in Tehran province!”

Impeachment of Cabinet Minister Reveals Scope of Iran’s Fuel Smuggling

In the days leading up to the impeachment of Iranian regime oil minister Abdolnasser Hemmati, regime supreme leader Ali Khamenei inadvertently revealed a clue regarding the dispute over the smuggling of millions of liters of fuel. He brought up the issue of fuel smuggling at every opportunity, with or without introduction, saying, “Twenty million liters of diesel are smuggled daily. Now, the question is, who is taking this huge volume of reserves out of the country? It’s not like someone can carry diesel across the border by hand or in small barrels. This volume of smuggling requires an extensive network, so it needs to be determined who is involved in this cycle.”
The Iranian regime president, Masoud Pezeshkian, in an attempt to increase the stakes in the impeachment battle, pointed out that “Diesel is not a commodity that can be easily collected from the market and smuggled. This volume of transfer requires an extensive transportation chain that must be stopped…” (Jamaran news website, February 26, 2025).

Low Wages Fail to Attract Workers; Labor Shortage Crisis in Iran
As the gap between income and the cost of living widens in Iran, experts point to the lack of appeal in job offers for job seekers and workers. They report that many companies are currently in need of labor, but workers are unwilling to accept jobs with current wages.
According to the state-run ILNA news agency, Hamidreza Ghaznavi, Secretary-General of the Iranian Entrepreneurs Association, stated on Thursday, March 6: “Today, we face a labor shortage in our industry. At one time, we ranked second or third globally in terms of labor cost competitiveness, but we have completely lost this advantage.”
According to him, it is not economically viable for workers to accept these jobs at such low wages.

Tehran to Become a “Semi-Arid Region” in the Next Decade

Mehdi Zare, a professor at the International Institute of Seismology and Earthquake Engineering, warned that Tehran is on the “brink of drought.” He stated that the drilling of more than 32,000 illegal wells in Tehran province is a major factor contributing to this situation, and that Tehran will become a “semi-arid region” within the next decade. In an interview with the state-run Khabar Online news agency, published on Friday, March 7, Zare emphasized: “The Alborz region and Tehran are currently experiencing the depletion of surface and groundwater resources, turning the water crisis into a socio-economic challenge in some areas, with signs of hydrological and socio-economic drought.”
Zare pointed out that water levels in Tehran’s dams have fallen below 40% of their capacity. He added, “30% of the city’s water is lost due to leaks in the deteriorating pipeline network.”

She made this statement in response to a question about whether the United States would extend the sanctions waiver that allows Iraq to pay for imported electricity from Iran.

Political Prisoner Kianoush Cheraghi Goes on Hunger Strike to Protest Illegal Transfer
Kianoush Cheraghi, a resident of Dehloran, was arrested on February 16, 2025 and transferred to the Border Guard Headquarters in Dehloran. His wife confirmed the news through her personal social media account. The arrest followed the revocation of his electronic monitoring (ankle bracelet) order. Security forces raided his home on the day of the arrest, using excessive force to detain him. During his transfer to Ilam prison, Cheraghi was subjected to severe physical assault, resulting in injuries to his jaw and knee and the breaking of one of his teeth.
Despite his significant injuries, Ilam prison officials denied him access to medical treatment. When he requested medical care, prison authorities dismissed his request with indifference, reportedly saying, “Was anyone even violent toward you?”

Despite his family’s efforts to secure a medical furlough by offering bail, judicial authorities have refused to grant it.
Medical facilities in Ilam Prison are extremely limited and inadequate, failing to meet the medical needs of this political prisoner. The continued denial of proper medical care and furlough persists as his health worsens day by day.

Extreme overcrowding, poor sanitary conditions, widespread human rights violations, sexual harassment, and psychological torture have placed female inmates—especially political prisoners and prisoners of conscience—under severe physical and psychological pressure.
The women’s ward consists of 14 cells designed to accommodate a total of 50 inmates. However, over 200 female prisoners are crammed into this small and overcrowded space. Each cell holds between 14 to 18 inmates in a confined area, devoid of any basic amenities, subjecting them to inhumane conditions.
