Starting the next chapter: Windsor Regional Library reopens after two-month renovation

A small Northern California branch library has reopened to the public after undergoing a two-month renovation, Sonoma County Library officials said.

The Windsor Regional Library reopened Tuesday, following renovations that provide it with an open floor plan and more seating, including a study pod for patrons looking for a quiet place to read or work, according to Windsor branch manager Phil Hoeft. The shelves in the library were also seismically retrofitted.

“Our staff has been working tirelessly to make this all happen, and we are so excited to welcome you all to our renovated space,” Hoeft said at a ribbon-cutting event Tuesday.

The same day the Windsor library reopened, the Cloverdale Regional Library closed for its own modernization project, which will take about three weeks.

The focus of the Cloverdale remodel will be the patio, according to Cloverdale branch manager Nicole Bird, who said the project will “create an inviting and flexible space for patrons to enjoy and offer more opportunities for outdoor library programming and events.”

The Windsor and Cloverdale library modernizations are part of a larger renovation project funded by a countywide sales tax earmarked for library services. Both Petaluma and Healdsburg Regional Libraries are also undergoing renovations.

Sonoma County Library’s BiblioBus mobile library will be in Cloverdale regularly while the library is closed. The schedule can be found online.

Cloverdale patrons can also visit the Healdsburg Mini Library in Healdsburg and find 24/7 online services at the Sonoma County Library website.
