Cesare Casadei left Chelsea and completed a permanent transfer to Torino in the winter market.
Prior to his move, the midfielder was also linked to other Serie A sides like AC Monza and Lazio. He reunited with his former Inter Milan youth team coach Paolo Vanoli at the Turin club.
The former Chelsea man has been speaking to DAZN in Italy about the welcome he has received at Torino and Tuttosport have relayed his comments.
“They welcomed me very well, I’m very happy here and everyone made my life much easier. I’m happy with all this affection,” he said.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca had left him out of his plans for the Premier League and gave the 22-year-old opportunities in the EFL Cup and the UEFA Conference League. Last month, Casadei suggested he had to leave the Blues due to lack of a prominent role.
The Italian has already played 258 minutes from four games for Torino, scoring a goal in the process. He explains that Torino’s concrete efforts to acquire his signature was vital in his decision to pick them in the January window.
“They really showed me that they were willing to make an effort to have me here, they were fundamental for my choice, and I found a good group: I already knew Ricci from the Under 21s and coach Vanoli from his experience at Inter, the coach is helping me a lot,” Casadei explained.
The ex-Chelsea midfielder has now revealed his big ambition of representing Italy.
“My secret dream? Wearing the national team jersey would be a great thing,” he added.
